Our Easter service at church was saturated with the presence of the Lord, as we sang and worshipped God. Various ones from the congregation came
forward and knelt at the altar as others came along side to pray with
them.
Today we celebrate
Resurrection Sunday. History reveals
that Jesus is alive. John 11:25 Jesus
was speaking to Martha when he said: “I
am the resurrection, and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead,
yet shall he live:”
Matthew 28:1-6 After
the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other
Mary went to look at the tomb. There was
a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going
to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like
lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him
that they shook and became like dead men.
The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid; for I know that you
are looking for Jesus who has been crucified.
He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where
the Lord lay.
The fact was Jesus had risen from
the dead and left the tomb. The angels
merely rolled away the stone for the benefit of the women so they could look
inside. The angels instructed the women
to “Go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is
risen from the dead;”
Luke 24:11 But the
disciples did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like
nonsense.
The disciples were
hiding and in fear and did not believe the women. They had forgotten that Jesus had been
telling them that he would die and rise again, and that he must go away but he
would return. Their ears were dull and
they did not understand his message to them.
Jesus met with them and
explained many things about his sacrifice and showed proof that he was truly
alive.
As we prepared to take
communion, Pastor asked if anyone in the congregation needed healing to raise
their hand. Several hands were
raised. Pastor asked those near by to
lay hands on them and pray for their healing.
One of our senior
ladies gave her testimony of Gods healing power.
We then shared communion and were dismissed to enjoy a time of fellowship.
