From my notes I present an edited Sunday Morning Sermon by Pastor Allan
Pastor Allan began by reading Psalms 37:1, 4-5 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
The presence of the “Church”
(you) in your neighborhood, can deter destruction. We as
Christians must Trust God as we delight in the Lord.
Fear has torment. There is fear of failure, fear of rejection;
“What will people think?”
The Bible tells us to be
strong and courageous.
The enemy desires to corrupt
our city, and its citizens. However we must watch our attitude of
complacency. We get distracted from the
real purpose and that is to pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit over our
city. It is easy to get distracted when
we see evil on the rise. God desires that lives come to Him and become changed and made new. God will take care of those who are evil.
Verse 2: For they shall soon
be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
We
see the wicked ones seem to prosper with their fancy cars, money and prosperity.
Don’t
compare yourself to them. On the surface
we may not match up, but don’t pay attention to that. Those things are not really important. There will come a time when God will deal
with evil doers. Maybe sooner than you
think.
1. Delight in God and He will
bless you.
2. Commit your way onto God, for
he will bring righteousness.
3. Rest in the Lord and wait
patiently for Him.
4. Fret Not because of those who
prosper.
5. Cease from anger and forsake
wrath.
Verse 13: The Lord shall laugh at him: for he sees that his
day is coming.
If those living in sin will repent; God will change his mind about
punishing them.
Sometimes when we see people who sin, in our hearts we
tend to write them off, but God is merciful.
Delight first in God and He will give you the desires
of your heart, however there are conditions and we need to be attentive to
God’s voice.
In times past, Christians would show up every time the
church doors were opened. In our day,
many churches only have one short service a week.
We must be committed if we want to see people's lives
restored. Our young believers need to be
discipled and taught in the Word. They
need fellowship with strong Christians and times of just hanging out.
Don’t
worry about what is going on across the street.
God will exalt you and take care of the wicked. A car was stolen; another car was totaled in
an accident. Know that God is able to
replace those things that are important to us.
Keep your eyes on Jesus.
Psalms 35:26 Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonor that magnify them-selves against me. Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favor my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
I find much comfort in these words and the words of God, as always. Excellent reminder about His sovereignty.
