A True Story from My
Book “Rescue the Stories Book One”
Let Me In !! |
I Want My Mama
Very early in life I remember my Mother washing clothes in
an old wash tub in the yard and hanging them out to dry on a line. She used one of those old fashioned wash rub
boards to get out the spots and make sure everything was clean.
My baby sister was born just after my third birthday, and I
remember banging on the bedroom door, and demanding to see my mother.
Yelling the words, “I want my Mama,” did not open the door
for me.
Finally my Aunt Edna pulled the
door slightly open and told me that I could NOT see her because my mother was
sick.
Refusing to be denied, I screamed and cried, “I want my
Mama,” until my aunt finally allowed me a short visit.
Mother smiled at me, and reached out to give me a gentle
hug, and then she asked me to please obey my aunt, so I said “OK.”
I was satisfied, I had seen my mama - - and I had gotten my own way.
At times it is a good thing to REFUSE to be DENIED, especially when you pray.
Reminds me of Jacob who refused to let go until he was blessed. There's something to be said of persistence in prayer. Verses come to mind about praying without ceasing, about continuing to bring our petitions before the Lord, about the persistent prayer availing much.
ReplyDeleteYes, sometimes it's good to not let go - and I will cling to the Lord forever.
GOD BLESS!
This was so encouraging, Hazel. It reminded me of the story Jesus told about the man who came to his friend's door in the middle of the night for bread and how his friend didn't let him in just because they were friends, but he let him in because of his PERSISTENCE. Also, the unjust judge and the importunate widow. She eventually got what she wanted by not giving up and by her continual pleas. I love what you said about refusing to be denied. I needed this very much today. Thank you so much for sharing. You are a dear blessing to me! I am so thankful I finally had the gumption to subscribe to your blog!!! LOL! :)
ReplyDeleteHello Hazel, how are you today?
ReplyDeleteThe power of patience, persistence and tenacity.I love today's story.
Thanks for the link up.
Many Blessings to you.
Hazel, grateful for the reminder to be persistent in prayer. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree, honour thy parents... Isn't it lovely to look back. I have reached 70 now and am looking back more than ever. And your mother washing... It used to be a whole days job. I remember how my mum sang all that day. And the clothes blowing on the long prompted up clothes line. Wonderful memories.. Mum is still alive and now 97yrs.. I love her so.
