Thinking back to my Kindergarten class, I remember that our chairs and tables were all painted a lovely hot pink.  There was one chair that was brown.  Our teacher called it the “Thinking Chair.”  I never had to sit in it, but the idea was; those who misbehaved were to sit and “think” until they were ready to apologize to our teacher.

When Kindergarten graduation was over and I entered the first grade room, you can imagine the shock when I discovered that all the chairs and tables were brown – not pink.  What had I done to deserve this?  Life isn’t always like Kindergarten!

I love to read your True Stories Posted here! Welcome Week 11

I Can Write My Name

I can remember in Kindergarten, our teacher, Miss Helen Jane would play music on an old victrola, and as we sat in a circle she would shuffle our names from a group of flash cards.

The person whose name was shown on the card, was asked to skip around the circle and back to his or her seat. Our teacher made a game out of us being able to recognize our name.  She also taught us to print our name in big bold letters on lined paper.

Think back and come here to post your shared memories about life. Memories come and go, and that is why we should write them down. Place them on your blog and then I invite you to share them here.

I am so happy to welcome you back to our True Story Blog Party!

Can you remember back when you were in school and the teacher would write a dozen or so topics on the blackboard, and you were to select one and write an essay?  Later on you needed to arrive at your own title and produce longer compositions.

Welcome Back week 9

Almost Fell !!

I am so happy to welcome you back to our True Story Blog Party!

When I was growing up, there were parks in the city and also in the hills. Our church once a year would have a picnic in the park in the hills. As children we loved to find trees with low growing branches and climb as high as we would dare.

From those tree tops, you could view all your friends some playing ball and others just sitting around chatting. Calling out,“Hi mom, can you see me?” did not receive a favorable comment from our mother. “You kids get down from there right now before you break your neck.”

Oh well, spoiled our day, but we did survive without broken bones at least at the Church picnic.

Memories come and go, and that is why we should write them down. I wake at night and write down a title so that it does not slip away. If I wait until morning the thought is gone.

This is place to post your True Life stories. Include stories from your own childhood, or stories of your children and your recent and past true stories. Our Tuesday site will open Monday evening at: 6:00 PM pacific standard time.
