God Gives Good Gifts

Edited Notes taken during our Bible Study taught by our teacher Linda at our Church

What is the Church doing with her resources?

What are you doing with your gifts? What do you desire to do with your gifts?

Matthew 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

The Covenant that God gave to Moses included Blessings, IF the people would worship and serve God only.  If they rebelled and chose not to serve God, they would reap the opposite of blessings.  God said, if you do this, I will do that and if not it will be to your hurt.

On the day of Pentecost the 120 believers were in the upper room, because Jesus had told them to return to Jerusalem and wait for the Promise of the Father.  They were all in one accord in obedience to Jesus command.

Suddenly - - several things happened. The Physical and Spiritual senses were all involved:   A LOUD sound, (hearing) a rushing mighty wind (feeling) - that FILLED the room (the Glory presence of God - bringing awareness) and tongues of fire (seeing) and unknown languages (speech).  There was evidenced power from on high that shook everyone involved.  This was something new and exciting that had never happened before.  Peter was enabled to preach a powerful message with the result of thousands believing on Jesus.

God set up the government of His church, 1 Corinthians 12:28  And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

God also give nine special gifts of the Holy Spirit available to all believers:  “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.”  (1 Corinthians 12:7-11)

Out of God's treasure there are many other gifts that He has given to us as believers:
God sent his own Son, Jesus to bring us Salvation and Eternal Life.
God provides supernatural Strength in times of need, and grants us protection from harm.
God provides us with peace, confidence and boldness.
God grants us freedom from fear and anxiety.
God pours out His love so that we are able to live peaceably with others.

Paul urged us to desire Spiritual Gifts and reminded us that all of God's gifts operate by LOVE.

As we desire to use our gifts, some may question; What is my gift?

May I suggest that you ASK God to first of all baptize you with His Holy Spirit and power.  Then ASK for other gifts.  Do not fear because God only desires to give you GOOD Gifts.

Asking God is the key to receive what ever you need from Him.  God delights to bless you with His mighty gifts so that you will be able to touch the lives of your family, neighbors, and co-workers with His power.

Many will begin with simple gifts such as hospitality, sharing, giving, loving, caring, but understand these are not lesser gifts, for they are stepping stones to expand your gift and outreach as God motivates you to do so.

Be open to the Holy Spirit's leading and direction and allow Him to give you gifts, and even more gifts in due time.

Excellent and encouraging post. Great reminders of what our attitude should be as children of our Father.
